The Chair of Bath and North East Somerset Council, Cllr Liz Hardman, cuts the ribbon to officially open Phase 1 of the revamped section of the Alice Park Play Area at Lambridge.
This eight-acre site of landscaped parkland was gifted to the city of Bath as a public park by Herbert Montgomery MacVicar back in 1938 and named in memory of his wife.
Within its walls, it offers every facility from six tennis courts, a children’s nursery and a wildlife nature garden and pond, to youth football, rugby classes, a boules piste and not forgetting its much-loved Cafe!
Its children’s playground was getting a little worse for wear, and the charitable Trust that runs the park is delighted that the £125,000 first phase to improve active play in a park given to children to play in has now been officially delivered.
The Trust l know is grateful to support and donations from the B&NES CIL Committee, The Medlock Trust and Roper Family Charitable Trust.
Now the Trust’s energies must turn to raising more cash to complete the renovation of the playground.
