Queer Georgians and Chelsea Boys

Was in town last night for an ‘In Conversation” at Waterstones with Anthony Delaney.

Book signing for Anthony Delaney

The History Hit podcast presenter, actor and now author was in town to talk about his book Queer Georgians. Delving deeply into a previously hidden side of Georgian England, spotlighting the individuals and establishments who pioneered queer culture in the 18th century.

Must say the cafe chairs at Waterstones are not designed for lengthy use. Probably to dissuade too much lingering over a coffee!

Then crossed Milsom Street to catch up with Sandra Higgins’ new exhibition at her gallery in Milsom Place.

Entitled ‘Contrast and Connections: Hughes, Thomas, Smith’, it brings together three British artists – Patrick Hughes, Steve Thomas and Donald Smith, with three unique styles which ‘create one dynamic exhibition where illusion, rhythm and colour meet in dialogue.’

L to R. Di and Patrick Hughes; Sandra Higgins and Donald Smith.

Only Patrick and Donald were able to make the preview, as Steve was poorly, but all three knew each other well from their Chelsea School of Art, London days.

I asked them to tell me about themselves, besides one favourite work of art they are exhibiting.
