You’ve got another month to catch up on The Lost Spells: Listening to a Landscape of Voices in the main ground floor gallery at Bath’s Victoria Art Gallery. It closes on October 5th.

This family-friendly exhibition showcases artworks by Jackie Morris and poems by Robert Macfarlane, from their best-selling book The Lost Spells.

However, on your way in – or when you come out – do spend some time admiring the range of subjects covered by a Bath-based artist in a selling exhibition currently running in the small gallery entitled ‘Capturing the Light.’

Sue Wales works in oils, painting landscapes, interiors and still lifes. In her beautifully painted works, she focuses on the impact of colour and always seeks to capture the transformative effects of light, be it lamplight in the winter or the different ways sunlight creeps into a house.

This free exhibition of her latest works, which provides a wonderful display of her range of subject matter and treatment of colour and light, has been much admired.

Sue studied at Reigate Art School and then in Paris at Grande Chaumière and Academie Julien.

Recent prize awards have been at the first Wales Contemporary International Open Exhibition (2020) and the Society of Women Artists (2024).

She has been a member of the Bath Society of Artists for many years.
