A quick trawl through the B&NES planning application list and l see the National Trust is applying for permission to graphically brighten the hoarding that has been erected around the Assembly Rooms.
In a statement, the Trust says:
“In order to improve the appearance of the building site during the temporary construction
phase, and to engage passers-by in the ongoing restoration project, we are seeking
permission to apply a graphic treatment to the hoarding currently in place around the
building site at Bath Assembly Rooms.
The design of this graphic treatment has been informed by the history of the building,
careful consideration of the building’s surroundings, and from conversations with external
stakeholders and colleagues – for example, local tour guides have fed back that they
would like to have images of the inside of the building on display to aid their tours, and
local businesses and museums have fed back that wayfinding graphics would be appreciated to aid visitor orientation.”

‘The graphics will be removed at the same time as the hoarding itself is removed, currently
anticipated to be in early 2027.’
