A summer of love

I am sure Shakespeare’s wonderful comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, has been performed on many a stage over the years, but currently it’s being produced in a novel and even more magical form at Bath Abbey.

It’s a return Shakespearean visit for Antic Disposition – the company producing this joyous new promenade tale of love and magic is following its award-winning success at the same venue last summer with Romeo and Juliet.

John Risebero is pictured being interviewed at the Abbey during last year’s production.

Directed by Ben Horslen and John Risebero, recipients of the prestigious Peter Brook Award, A Midsummer Night’s Dream marks Antic Disposition’s 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of immersive theatre in extraordinary historic locations across the UK and beyond.

Featuring a talented ensemble of nine professional actors from the Bath area, this imaginative production blends Shakespeare’s timeless humour with original music and striking visual design, conjuring the spirit and sparkle of a summer night.

I popped along to the Abbey this morning to chat to three of the cast – and local boys at that!

Tickets for A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Bath Abbey are now on sale.
