Poster boy

Elsewhere on this blog, you will see a framed copy of a giant poster that was produced years ago, showing Bruce and me in a balloon basket ‘floating over’ the Royal Crescent. We were, in fact, hanging from a crane jib.

It prompted a response from Ralph Oswick – former Artistic Director of the Bath Natural Theatre Company. He writes:

‘Re your huge hot air balloon poster, a few decades back Bath Tourism had a series of giant posters made for London Underground featuring alternative Bath attractions, eg rugby, music etc in order to persuade potential visitors that our city wasn’t just old ruins.

In my case I’m not sure if they succeeded in that goal! I was promised a copy of the 10ft poster as ‘wages’ but I never got it.

I did however spot myself in passing on the Circle Line.

Just recently a friend found this A3 copy in a charity shop. At £15, a snip!”

A bargain l would say Ralph!
