Couldn’t waste a trip up the tower of Bath Abbey without grabbing some shots of what surrounds us 149 feet below!

  1. Thank you Richard. I knew it well. Bath looking good in the sunshine. Best wishes.

  2. Thank you for this new perspective on the city. Cannot see any solar panels in any picture – Bath is wasting all that energy…..

  3. A climb up the tower of Bath Abbey is to be savoured. A marvellous experience and celebration of the history of our city, our World Heritage Site, One of the Eleven Great Spa Towns of Europe with its setting within the landscape bowl – a truly therapeutic environment. It is your picture taking in the view to the east that it is extra important to me. The photo shows the green fingers of landscape that penetrate to the very heart of the city. The trace of landscape can still be observed between the ‘temporary’ stands on the Recreation Ground. Should the permanent application for a stadium be granted the fingers of green will be entirely lost. This view, of 500 hundred years standing will be lost – let alone the views from Grand Parade to the landscape backdrop on Bathwick and Widcombe. We congratulate Bath Rugby on their very successful season, but it cannot be at forfeit of our heritage and our therapeutic environment . Please make your voice heard. These are important.

  4. Apparently, several of our cathedrals have installed solar panels. For example, Gloucester was the first ancient cathedral to do so in 2016. Salisbury also has solar panels in place. More recently, Chester became the first in the north of England to install them on its monastic buildings. York Minster has also recently done so. These installations are (apparently) part of a broader effort by cathedrals and the C of E to reduce carbon emissions, and become more environmentally sustainable. The C of E is actively promoting environmental initiatives, including the installation of solar panels on church buildings. I saw them recently on St Philip & St James’s church at Odd Down!
