Open Gardens success

It’s good to hear that this month’s Lansdown Open Gardens Day attracted over 350 visitors.

This year’s event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of St. Stephen’s Millennium Green, a quiet and enchanting space close to St. Stephen’s Church, which is open to all. It is run as a charity (www.millenniumgreen.org.uk/) by local volunteers who work tirelessly to prepare for Open Gardens.

The owners of six local gardens and one allotment opened their beautiful gardens to the public for the day, each attracting a constant stream of people.

Visitors were delighted with their afternoon’s entertainment, whether admiring the gardening skills of the garden owners, buying plants on the Millennium Green, or enjoying tea and cake in St Stephens Church undercroft.

The celebration, which was free for children, raised £4,000 for its charitable purpose of maintaining the Garden for the community.

Committee Member of Bath in Bloom, Steve Rea, said, ‘The event was a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful St Stephen’s Millennium Green and fascinating to see such a lovely range of different gardens’.
