Morrison’s NOT closing

I hear there is talk going around the city about the possible closure of Morrison’s store on Bath’s London Road.

People are commenting on the closure of the meat and fish counters, while others are talking about empty shelves.

While the shelf problem may be a supply issue, the supermarket’s media office assures me the store is NOT closing.

They drew my attention to a national press release in which it states:
The business is making a number of changes and adjustments to its stores and operations to accelerate growth, to optimise its operations and to help mitigate recent significant cost increases.

That involves:
The closure of 52 Cafés, all 18 Market Kitchens, 17 Convenience stores, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies.

Although the significant majority of colleagues affected by these changes are expected to be deployed in suitable roles elsewhere in Morrisons, there will be a total of around 365 colleagues at risk of redundancy. “
