Festival of Choirs

Press release – A Festival of Choirs

They’ll be raising the roof later this month when Bath’s Green Park Station transforms into a choral wonderland for the Festival of Choirs on Saturday, 17th May, from 3 pm to 10 pm.

Best of all, this uplifting event is completely free to attend, making it accessible to everyone in the community, and with Green Park Station’s covered venue, it will go ahead rain or shine.

From the acclaimed Rock Choir & VocalWorks to the inspiring Keynsham Music Man Project and The Good Afternoon Choir, this one-day festival will bring together the incredible diversity of Bath’s vibrant choral scene. With nearly 50 choirs and 1,500 singers in the region, the city boasts a thriving musical community, and this event will put that talent centre stage.

The Festival of Choirs isn’t just about performance—it’s a celebration of unity, wellbeing, and the transformative power of music. Singing has been shown to boost mental and physical health, reduce stress, and create powerful social bonds. This event will feature singers of all ages and abilities—from young people to retirees, from seasoned professionals to first-time performers—highlighting just how inclusive and life-affirming choral music can be.

“This festival is about more than just music,” says Matt Finch, one of the event organisers. “It’s about connection, inclusion, and joy. It shows what happens when a community comes together to lift its voice—literally.”

Bath’s own Jon Monie, beloved panto star, will host the evening performances, ensuring smooth transitions between sets and plenty of laughs along the way. Guests can enjoy delicious food and drink from The Brasserie, The Music Workshop coffee house, and Bath Pizza Company, which will remain open throughout the festivities.

The event is fully accessible, with a raised stage designed to welcome everyone, including wheelchair users.

And yes—it’s all completely free. No tickets, no barriers—just great music and community spirit in the heart of Bath.

Last year alone, Bath choirs performed to a combined audience of over 20,000 people and raised more than £45,000 for local charities—a testament to the powerful impact music can have on a community.
