Walk of Life

[Suzanne Hunt]

Local Bath woman, Suzanne Hunt is taking part in the annual RUH ‘Walk of Life’ on the 17th May to honour her brother and help the hospital which has always supported her.

The Walk of Life is organised by RUHX, the official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath. Walkers can choose between 10 miles, 16 miles, or a marathon distance along the Kennet & Avon Canal, to raise vital funds for their local hospital.

Twenty years on from completing the Bath Half Marathon, Suzanne is marking what would have been her brother’s 60th birthday by donning her walking boots and hitting the canal.

“I’m walking in memory of my brother, Mark Hunt, who died from a Brain Tumour in March 2003, aged 37. I feel the walk will be a good memorial for the people I have lost and in honour of the wonderful experience I have had at the RUH”.

By taking part, walkers are asked to raise £100 to support the hospitals in doing more for patients, families, staff, and everyone in the local community.

Suzanne picked RUHX’s Walk of Life to honour her brother after receiving exemplary care from the hospital over the last few years.

“My experience made me feel that someone cared about what were genuine medical issues that needed addressing quickly”. Suzanne continued that her standout memory of her time at the RUH was of “feeling safe and reassured by the staff, an important part of healthcare!”
