Happy 250th birthday Jane!

One of the most colourful annual events in Bath’s social calendar is the Promenade – when hundreds of people from around the world don Regency costumes and parade through the city.

It’s a public high point of the annual Jane Austen Festival which celebrates the author’s links with Bath.

This year is extra special as fans of the English novelist will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of her birth and the week-long Bath festival will most certainly be joining in.

Georgia Delve, Jane Austen Festival Director

It’s not only rugby fans who bring money and visitors into the local economy. As Festival Director Georgia Delve explained when she visited Wyatt’s Place to talk about Jane Austen, the annual festival and how she came to be involved with it.

It’s a podcast you can listen to via Spotify where you will find many other interesting people under the ‘Wyatt’s Place’ label.

As Jane herself would say – in Emma: A Novel – ‘It’s such a happiness when good people get together.”
