I know the Remembrance Day parade is held in front of the Guildhall because there is a service in Bath Abbey immediately afterwards, but l cannot understand why the bike stands have to be taken away and put back every year.

It’s all a question of ‘health and safety’ of course but l do not see them as a danger.
There are no sharp edges to the stands and, for many elderly people, they give a sort of ‘half-seat if they are standing for a long period.
It’s an unnecessary expense, robs cyclists for four days of somewhere to secure their bikes, and l bet bolts go missing every year!
