When it comes to choosing her Christmas card this year, our Lib-Dem Bath MP won’t be relying on what’s available in the shops.
Instead she’s – once again – holding an exciting Christmas card competition which is open to all primary school children across the city.
Mrs Hobhouse invites pupils to get creative and design a card that captures the spirit of “Festive fun in Bath” – this year’s theme. The winning entry will be printed and sent as her official Christmas card.
Budding artists can submit their A4 or A5 designs via email to office@werahobhouse.co.uk with the subject “Christmas Card Competition” or by post to 31 James Street West, Bath, BA1 2BT, by November 15th.
Mrs Hobhouse is encouraging participating artists to include festive well wishes in their designs such as “Season’s greetings!” or “Happy holidays!”.

Last year, Mollie-George Appleton from Widcombe Junior School won Mrs Hobhouse’s annual Christmas card competition. Her winning design beautifully captured the festive spirit of the city and was used as the Bath MP’s personal Christmas card for 2023.
Wera Hobhouse, Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, said:
“Bath is full of hundreds of talented young artists who I know will do a brilliant job of capturing the magic of Christmas in our city.
“As art is one of my biggest passions, I am always inspired by the imagination displayed by the young artists in our community. This competition is the perfect opportunity to showcase these skills!
“Bath’s beautiful twinkling lights, its Christmas Market, and the snow dusting our charming streets remind me how lucky we are to call this enchanting city our home. I can’t wait to see how our budding young artists bring their favourite bits of Bath to life on the page.”
