Sustainability Shorts

Transition Bath will be holding its fifth edition of the Sustainability Shorts lecture series – at 7 pm on October 23rd – in the centre of Bath at the Salvation Army Citadel on Green Park Road.

The evening is designed to be engaging, snappy and entertaining, with six speakers talking for ten minutes each on their chosen sustainability subject.

There will be five minutes for Q&A after each speaker, then it’s on to the next!

You are guaranteed to hear something new and something you can work with from our varied speakers.

Speakers this time are:

  • Julia Galbenu, Community Engagement Manager from Heal Rewilding, whose objective is to rewild land in England to heal nature and act on climate change.
  • Anthony Simpson, National Energy System operator, talking about the opportunities and risks posed by growing volumes of storage and electric vehicles to grid stability.
  • Laila Petrie, founder and CEO of 2050 and Director General of Future Earth Lab.
  • Avon Wildlife Trust, speaking about the Team Wilder project, a network of people, organisations and groups, taking action for nature by creating space for nature in the community,
  • Professor Tim Mays, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Energy and Environment and Co-Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemical Technologies. Tim will be talking about hydrogen storage to help achieve Net Zero by 2050.
  • Philip Sturgeon, from Protect Earth, who are raising funds to purchase land between Claverton and Warleigh for habitat creation.

There will be tea and coffee during the break (there may even be biscuits), so plenty of fuel will be on offer to help you to keep up with the pace!
