Popped over to Riverside this morning to visit friends and they gave me this ‘flier’ which was popped through their letterbox.

Obviously, as they live quite near this former Homebase site, they are interested to hear more about the planned redevelopment scheme.

Excuse its crumpled appearance but its been through their letter box and in my bag of groceries!
If you visit http://www.pineswayredevelopment.com you will read the following:

“You may have noticed the recent acquisition of the former Homebase site by HUB, in collaboration with Bridges Fund Management.

HUB’s vision is to transform this area to create a vibrant mixed use community comprising homes including affordable, commercial and retail spaces, enhanced public realm areas and new pedestrian and cycle routes.”

The exhibition at Green Park Station will be the final community engagement in which HUB can showcase their latest plans.
That’s Friday, 6th September between 10 am and 6.30 pm.
Why do most developers become very shy and timid when getting a public response from something which potentially affects every resident in Bath.
More people means more demand for services and goods. We are all affected and want to involved in the shaping of our city going forward.
For example for most city residents at this moment in time there is very limited capacity on/in the telecoms network. We don’t have adequate or a quality service. Coverage is dismal. Calls, coverage and quality is compromised. Business and individual communication is dire.
Has any serious thought been given to this important planning aspect I am wondering ?
Dreary dreary dreary – the Southern Riverside is a litany of wasted opportunities and slums for the future. Shame on the Local Authority and the developers for colluding in poor building design and standards and for covering it all up by demanding NDA’s when they compensate as an absolute last resort.
The earlier application, still extant and could still be built, was given permission because the benefit of accommodation for the elderly on one of the few pieces of land with level travel to the facilities of central Bath was considered to outweigh the harm to the WHS that such a structure in such a place would create. The alternative proposal doesn’t have that benefit.
This proposal has been around a while.
They’ve already consulted on it once.
It’s a pretty crap scheme.
One wonders why a dedicated cycle path couldn’t have been designed from Green Park through Western Riverside to the Windsor area and then link uo to the old railway line by Locksbrook, instead of the ridiculus Upper Bristol Road cycle lanes ?
They promised shops and a gym at Riverside development – no shops and no gym. Actually, there’s nothing bar Coffee No1 there.
Iwould like to have seen a walk-in gym or even a health centre. We are short of space in Bath, but for many, an area to do simple exercises would do a lot of good for our health and reduce visits to Doctor. There could be a hub to send sell by date food which food shops seem to have a lot. This is a Central place for ALL to enjoy and lets make it useful too. It is not far from the. Bus station and that is a good cheap travel. A small cafe too so that us oldies would tree as a Park and meeting place.
