Passing through Sydney Gardens l thought l would take advantage of the 20P-in-the-slot loos near the rear entrance to the Holburne Museum.
One was out of order and the other was spitting out my coin. We tried a different coin which was accepted by the lock governing machine. Only problem was – the door wouldn’t open!
We did notice the poster on the door and did ring the ‘service line’ – it was promptly answered with the offer of a code which would have opened the door. Only thing was we had moved onto a local pub as the need was too great to wait.

We at least could report the fault. However, it really isn’t good enough that the only two loos in the park have current problems.
I was able walk the length of Great Pulteney Street for relief, but what of the disabled or those who are too elderly and frail to move any further? Are they expected to use the bushes?
LibDems anti toilets policy for Bath. Interesting that coach drivers advise customers to use M&S toilets , no wonder the queues are up the stairs.
It’s cuts to local authority funding that have closed public toilets, not just in Bath but throughout the country. And there were certainly no more public toilets in Bath last time the Tories were in charge of B&NES.
As you will probably know from previous comments I’ve made I think the lack of loos in the city is simply appalling. Once upon a time we had a proper coach park with toilets for incoming visitors, but it was so useful that they knocked down the loos and turned the area into a car park. And now the projected development there is not going ahead so the whole riverside – with a very expensive bridge! – looks like a bombsite.
The new footbridge is getting a lot of use though and certainly encourages walking routes from the Western side of the city centre across the river.
