Re “Canal’s No 1” item. I’m a volunteer lock keeper on the Bath flight of locks and meet Angus regularly. He’s the only one of all the hire boat companies who bothers to bring his customers to the locks in his boat, and personally demonstrates how to use the lock facilities and equipment correctly. As a result, his boat, his customers, and the locks all benefit.
I really wish the other much bigger hire companies would do the same. Many thanks Angus ! A thoroughly justified winner.
