Bloom or blooming disgrace?

Another chance to discuss some of the local issues getting me – and some of you – hot under the collar!

  1. I hate all the fake flowers too….tacky, tasteless and environmentally unfriendly.

  2. It’s high time the council stepped in and banned these. We are supposed to be the Floral City, not the plastic flower city. Someone from one of the chief offenders (naming no names) tried to tell me they’re silk. No. They’re polyester – a kind of plastic. Many are fixed to walls and doorways of listed buidlings. Do they have listed building consent? No. They’re smothered in dust made up of toxic particulates which, if you brush against these gaudy, unnatural garlands, gets on to your clothes. Come on, B&NES – ban the beastly things.

  3. They DO look prettier than bollards, must be said, but how is this in line with the Council’s eco campaigning?
Also, don’t real plants & trees absorb pollutants & clean the air? Isn’t that what the Council are asking us all to do?
Maybe a case of better something than nothing?….
