Plant sale – but maybe the last?

The Holburne Museum’s annual Plant Sale is being held again this Sunday 12th May (10:30 to 2:30), but it could be the last time it takes place.

Jonno Davis who is Chairman of the Holburne Museum Friends emailed me to say: ‘The two wonderful women who mastermind this event, Sally Roche and Olivia Eliot, are standing down this year after many years of fund-raising for the Holburne.

We are hoping that someone might be interested in taking over ownership of the event in the future. It would be a shame to see it disappear, as it is a key fund-raising event and is so well enjoyed by all who attend.

The Plant Sale is free to come along, and is a lively and fun event for all the family, and helps raise vital funds to keep the Holburne’s doors open. There will be a super array of expert nurseries selling fine plants and herbs, plus a beekeeping stand, and the Friends of Sydney Gardens are joining us too.

We shall have our own Friends’ plant stall, and Mark and I will be selling a range of excellent secondhand books, principally on art and architecture.’

Thanks Jonno. There’s also delicious home-made cakes and biscuits to savour, and my fingers are crossed for both fine weather and someone coming forward to save the event!
