Nominations, please

Bath’s Mayor, Cllr Dine Romero, is seeking nominations for the 2024 Mayor’s Access Challenge Award. She also wants our help in finding a Citizen of the Year!

The first accolade involves a scheme, run with Access B&NES, which recognises a particular improvement to access or service made by a business in the City of Bath.  The improvement should make it easier for those who have any physical, visual or hearing difficulties, to go about their day to day lives.

To make a nomination, the Chair of Access B&NES, Susan Charles, can be contacted  by email at susancharles1995@gmail.com or mobile 07877 767263.  The deadline for entries is Friday 3 May 2024.

A Civic Reception will be hosted by the Mayor (Councillor Dine Romero) in the Parlour at the Guildhall for the winner, nominator, and members of the Access B&NES group on Wednesday 15 May 2024 at 2.00 pm.

Next, Madam Mayor  is looking for a ‘Citizen of the Year’ – someone who must either live in Bath, work here, or belong to a group based in the City.

Cllr Romero said, ‘A large percentage of the engagements in the Mayoral year involve meeting an enormous number of individuals who are dedicated to giving their time freely to help others in the City.  This Award is a public way of acknowledging these achievements and contributions.  I look forward to receiving nominations from across the City.  I am sure people will know someone whose service to their community should be recognised.”

If you know anyone who deserves an award for their long-term voluntary work or a specific extremely noteworthy act by an individual (but not for monetary donations), within the City of Bath boundary, please nominate them.  They should not have already received a national level honour for this, it is for voluntary service and not paid employment.

Nomination forms are available from the Mayor’s Office at the Guildhall, or by emailing  mayorofbath@bathnes.gov.uk  or from web site www.mayorofbath.co.uk, and must be returned by 12 noon on Friday 3 May 2024.
