‘As you may know, The Hop Pole in Limpley Stoke has been the subject of a community buy-out. They need to raise a further £30,000 by the end of January in order to fully secure the pub as a community hub/pub and to save it from developers.
I have been lobbying the architects and Management Committee to get them to install Dark Sky compliant lighting so that, rather like Dorothy House, The Hop Pole is an exemplar of best lighting practice.
The committee is impressively professional and enthusiastic, a real force for community good. The pub lies in the Limpley Stoke Valley which is part of the setting for the Bath World Heritage Site.
It would be fantastic if any of your readers felt able to support this final push to secure the pub for the community and future generations.

It’s been a while since I visited the Hop Pole but, having seen the devastating impact of the closure of so many local pubs, I’m so happy to support this cause.
Thank you Richard for bringing this to our attention and helping all of us to feel so connected with our communities.
What would we do without you?
