All that coloured, shiny, glittery wrapping paper might look very pretty around the Christmas tree but it’s all packaging that cannot be recycled.
The Museum of East Asian Art – across the road from the Assembly Rooms – is offering a different way of doing things.
How about kickstarting the holiday season with a day of Christmas gifting related activities with an East Asian twist and a sustainable approach?
This Saturday, November 18th, make your own Christmas origami from recycled paper to embellish your gifts or decorate your tree. You can also have a go at furoshiki-wrapping and learn the basic techniques of this traditional Japanese cloth-wrapping practice.
Enjoy the specially curated seasonal items in our shop and taste ceremony-grade Japanese matcha tea.
• Furoshiki and Christmas origami running from 11:30 until 15:00 (These activities are designed for both children and adults.)
• Tea Tasting running from 13:00 until 15:00
