Look what has been happening while l was away!
Varian Tye’s first email to me included the above shot.
He wrote:
‘A follow up to the last item you had on your Bath Newseum website.
After a number of letters to Network Rail, from myself, encouraging them to clear the vegetation on the railway embankment below the viewing platform, which was obstructing views of the GWR line and the iconic Box Tunnel, it is great to see that a working party has just started on the clearance works today.’
Then he sent this follow-up photo.
He writes:
‘Noted you had a great holiday on bathnewseum.com
Update photograph attached, but must emphasise that I believe this is the first phase of clearance works. I understand that another team will be coming back to finish clearance of the vegetation nearer the tunnel and on the stone balustrade to the portal later in the year, start of next !’
Well done you. Be careful if you do decide to park up and view the tunnel entrane from the Viewing Platform. Parking is not easy and it’s a busy road through Box.
