The Mayor of Bath, Cllr Dine Romero, and The Rotary Club of Bathavon are encouraging artists to get their applications in now for the 2023 Annual Art Show.
This free exhibition is open to the public from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 October at the Guildhall.
Last year 150 pictures were hung, with sales raising funds for the Mayor’s and the Rotary President’s charities. Profits from this year’s show will be shared between The Mayor of Bath’s Relief Fund, which helps local people facing hard times, and the Rotary President’s charities, Julian House and Genesis Trust.
The Mayor of Bath, Councillor Dine Romero, said: “On behalf of the Mayoralty and the Charter Trustees, I am delighted once again to be launching the Mayor & Rotary Art Show, a great occasion for amateur artists, students and others to display and sell their work, while supporting our charities.”
Semi-professional artists, members of amateur art groups, college and university students can all submit their work and keep 80% of the sale price, which must be a minimum of £30 and maximum of £400. The hanging fees will be £5 per painting, but this increases to £15 for paintings priced above £200. A Preview Evening (by invitation only) will be held on the Wednesday evening, 25 October.
Visitors will be asked to select their favourite picture, or sculpture, and the Turner Trophy will be presented to the artist whose painting is selected as ‘Best in Show’.
Application forms are available on the Charter Trustees’ website www.mayorofbath.co.uk or from the Mayor’s Office, Guildhall, Bath, Somerset, BA1 5AW
