Plenty of moonlight pictures across social media this morning – and thank you to those of you who have sent me yours.
The picture above was sent in by Ralph Oswick but not taken by him.
Ralph tells me: “It was taken this evening by Nick Steel, Bath Comedy Festival supremo. All it needs is the ‘Widcombe Ripper’ to sculk by! (Hammer Films version)”

And from Paul Polden: “I’m sure your readers may have better pictures than mine of the blue moon last night, but I took this shot looking towards Bathampton at 21:50 last night and thought I would share it with you.”
Thanks guys.
According to Wikipedia…… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_moon
“A blue moon is an additional full moon that appears in a subdivision of a year: the third of fourth full moons in a season.
The phrase in modern usage has nothing to do with the actual color of the Moon, although a visually blue Moon (the Moon appearing with a bluish tinge) may occur under certain atmospheric conditions—for instance, if volcanic eruptions or fires release particles in the atmosphere of just the right size to preferentially scatter red light.[1]“
