Saddened to hear the news that Brian McElney OBE – the founder of the Museum of East Asian Art in Bath – passed away peacefully on the 26th of April.

In making the announcement the museum said:

“2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the opening of the Museum of East Asian Art.

We wish that he could have been at the heart of the events we have planned, but we will celebrate his vision and honour his legacy this year and in the years to come. “

I used to see Brian having breakfast and a chat in Rosarios Cafe in Northumberland Place where l am sure he will also be sadly missed. A man with an incredible life story.
