Twin sing song

Bath’s Camerata Choir was in Aix en Provence this weekend – delighting audiences in our twin city in France.

Marion McNeir MBE writes:

‘They were invited – as part of the European Week celebrations – to share the stage on Saturday and Sunday with musicians from Grenada – which is also twinned with Aix – and a French choir from Aix.

The French audience turned out in force to enjoy a wonderfully varied programme from sacred music to Broadway favourites like Miss Otis Regrets.

For Benjamin Kirk, the newly appointed young conductor of the Camerata , this was a very special first overseas visit with the choir.

As Ben said, “ I was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic reception and the rapturous applause by the people of Aix . Our twinning is obviously something they really treasure.”

Marian is Chairman of the Bath – Aix Twinning, and helped to organise the visit. She told me this was a wonderful opportunity for Bath musical groups to take part in this international music festival.

“ Last year it was the Ukelele Band of Bath , this year the Camerata – who will it be next year ? “
