Ed on double bass

I have just spent the most inspirational afternoon with a group of ‘Young Carers’ who – thanks to members of the Bath Philharmonia – can come together to make music and share friendships, and experiences of the special family roles they play, with other young people like them.

They meet at the Forum theatre and today welcomed a couple of special guests to not only watch them in action, but to sing and play a musical instrument just like them.

Bath’s Lib Dem MP Wera Hobhouse and Ed Davey – the leader of the Liberal Democrats – paid a special visit to watch them in action under the Musical Directorship of Jason Thornton – helped by the orchestra’s General Manager, Simone Homes and other musical members of the orchestral team.

I managed to chat to Ed Davey before he left and found out how he was able to empathize with the young people because he too was a carer when he was a boy.
