Talking Bath tourism – tax and office?

Has Manchester really become the first UK city to introduce a ‘tourist tax’ and how soon will Bath do the same thing?

That’s one of the questions l put to Kathryn Davis who is Managing Director of Visit West – an organisation that represents Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire in terms of how businesses within these areas can maximise the potential of the visitor economy in the region.

It’s all about encouraging tourism and l also wanted to push her on whether Bath will ever get its tourist office back.

Visit West has recently been awarded Local Visitor Economy Partnership accreditation by the national tourism agency, Visit England which is expected to maximise the potential of the local visitor economy.

Kathryn was in Bath for a meeting at the Abbey Hotel, so l had a chance to ask her what this partnership status actually meant for our city’s business prospects.
