Happy to share the following:
Dear Supporter,
Thank you for signing the petition Bath Doesn’t Need Another Lidl.
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes against LIDL’s plans and need your help so please donate whatever you can large or small to our Just Giving Crowdfunding page. We need to raise approx. £6,000 to hire legal and expert advice to help keep this site as a haven for beavers, birds, bats, pollinating insects and prevent more traffic.

Help us stop LIDL’s plans to build a second Bath supermarket on the unspoilt green meadow next to the Lambridge Training Ground. The meadow is a haven for wildlife, including many protected species such as European beavers, otters, badgers, bats, and kingfishers. (see Moving footage of beavers in Lambridge, Bath).
The site chosen by LIDL for this second supermarket also sits at the historic Georgian gateway to Bath and a “green corridor” at the eastern entrance to aUNESCO World Heritage city. We are concerned that building a second LIDL here will impact this historic gateway to Bath.
We also know that Bath doesn’t need another LIDL, less than half a mile from an existing low-price supermarket with plenty of parking. This second LIDL will mean even more traffic chaos and pollution in a city that has been actively working to clean up its dangerous air, with the first Clean Air Zone outside of London.
What can you do next?
It is likely the developers will submit a full planning application to B&NES Council before summer 2023.
Please can you:
- Join us on Saturday 29th April at 11 am in Larkhall Square come and show your support for wildlife and clean air. We will be taking a “Trolley Load of Reasons” to the site to say why we must Protect this Wildlife Haven. Please bring balloons, bunting, placards – it’s time to stand up and be counted! The more we are, the more impact we have!
- Tell your friends and neighbours to sign the petition at
https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/bath-doesnt-need-another-lidl - Write to your MP wera.hobhouse.mp@parliament.uk – and simply ask Wera Hobhouse to help stop this application by LIDL. The more letters she gets, the more likely she is to act on our behalf.

Help us to Protect this Lambridge Wildlife Haven! Help us see off the diggers and concrete mixers to prevent even more traffic, stop more emissions, and halt yet more concreting of greenfields.
Share this, donate to the fighting fund, and come to the Larkhall Square on Saturday 29th April at 11am and join our “Trolley Load of Reasons” and help us protect this Wildlife Haven.
Would be better as a Park and Ride site for East of Bath.
