A long time ago, but an unforgettable journey.

This is not the complete programme as broadcast. There is no commentary.

It is the cameraman’s cut and a tribute to the late John Bennett.

The sound man on this fantastic trip was Tony Griggs who – l am pleased to know – has approved of this posting.

  1. Really enjoyed watching Richard’s report. Good that it will now be available to a wider audience on YouTube. I was at RAF Lyneham in the early 60s when 216 and 511 squadrons were based there. Would like to take this opportunity to give a ‘plug’ for XM496 – http://www.xm496.com – this aircraft was the last RAF Transport Command Britannia to fly and is now preserved at Cotswold Airport (RAF Kemble) by a dedicated team of volunteers. Well worth a visit.
