Good to see the Christmas carousel back in Bath again.

PS. I stand corrected! Dave Dixon writes: ‘Morning Richard. Nice to see David Downes and the family back again. The ride has a very interesting history. It’s a “Galloper” not a carousel.

Gallopers go round clockwise and the horses go up and down. It’s a British invention and was patented as such. Carousels are American and in order to bypass paying the patent costs they go anti clockwise and the horses remain level.

It’s one of only three steam operated rides in the world I believe. David and his sons could tell you more. Regards David Dixon.’
