Well, as you can see from the photograph above – supplied by David Stubbs – the scaffolding has come down from the front of Bath Spa station.
But – asks David – where is the station clock?
I asked that question of First Great Western and received the following reply:
“Immediate, remedial work has been carried out to the decorative gable that had become unsafe, and was at risk of falling, to make the station safe and fully accessible in time for the Christmas markets, prior to longer-term repairs.
“This remedial work to make the gable safe has made removal of the clock necessary to ensure it did not get damaged during the emergency repairs and provided the opportunity to clean and maintain the clock off-site.
“Further works are required which may require listed building consent to reinstate the decorative gable. Once consent has been granted and design work approved, contractors can return to site to complete the repairs.”
That means putting the clock back as well then, l asked?
‘Yes’ was the reply!
