Speak up, say activists

Bath is the next stop for the Change is Now Bus Tour which is travelling around the UK to highlight the links between the Climate and Cost of Living crises.

The visit is organised by the Bath Extinction Rebellion (XR) group and the day will start at 11 am in Brunel Square (near Bath Spa station) with short speeches followed by a march up Southgate to Royal Victoria Park led by the XR Bath Samba Band

At 13:00 the march will arrive at Royal Parade, Victoria Park where it will join the “Change is Now” National XR Bus Tour team, who will be publicising Extinction Rebellion’s proposals for a Citizens Assembly to break the political deadlock stopping action on Climate Change.

The team will hear from local people and offer them ways to get involved in the movement to demand action on the climate and ecological crises and to join with thousands of others taking action in Spring 2023.

Dave Searby, the spokesperson for the Bath XR Group, explained: “We can now see clearly how the cost-of-living crisis is a direct result of the climate and ecological crises.

This summer the UK suffered temperatures up to 40 degrees, and one-third of Pakistan is now underwater following devastating flooding linked to climate change.

The oil and gas companies continue to rake in billions of pounds in profits, and the new government continues to subsidise them. As ordinary people, we must do something before it’s too late.”
