An emotional gathering at Bath’s Guildhall yesterday where Ukrainian families who have taken refuge in the district came together with their sponsors and relatives to celebrate Ukraine Independence Day.
The guests who have arrived in B&NES under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme or the Family Visa Scheme had been invited to the event by Bath & North East Somerset Council and Bath Welcomes Refugees.
The district has welcomed 240 Ukrainian refugees under the Homes for Ukraine (H4U) scheme over the past six months.
While the families have very much appreciated the help and support they’ve received, many of them are wondering what will happen to them as the agreed time spent with local sponsors comes to an end.
The council has set up a dedicated web page for Family Visa Scheme arrivals and their relatives and additional support is available via the Community Wellbeing Hub.
