In case you are wondering what is happening down by Brunel’s railway line balustrade – passing through Sydney Gardens – it’s Network Rail at work.
They’ve issued the following statement:
‘The works currently underway in the Sydney Gardens area are to clean the low balustrade wall, strengthen the wall foundations and install new railings along the railway boundary to prevent access on to the railway line. This is following a number of trespass incidents in recent years.
The work is scheduled to take place between 28/02/22 – 24/06/22 and local residents have been notified via letter drop.‘
It’s a listed structure so they are having to underpin the stone wall first to take the weight of the additional fencing.
