Help raise the roof

We’ve got a flourishing number of amateur theatre companies in the city and the 250-year-old Mission Theatre building is one venue much loved by am-dram supporters.

It’s good to know our local MP has thrown her weight behind supporting the campaign – called Raise the Roof – which aims to raise £110,000 to fix the Grade 2 listed building’s roof.

The campaign was set up after it was discovered it had degraded so much that it now needs replacing. So far, the campaign has raised over £98,000 but a further £12,000 is required to fully fund the works.

In recognition of their support, those who donate will be acknowledged in a Heritage Book which will be permanently placed in The Mission Theatre. Bath MP Wera Hobhouse has thrown her weight behind the campaign.

Commenting on the campaign, Bath MP Wera Hobhouse said:

“I fully support this campaign and hope that the money can be raised to fix the roof of this historically significant building which has served our city in various ways over its very long life. The Mission Theatre is one of Bath’s brilliant cultural assets and provides a platform for an array of groups and artists.

Our arts community, one of the vibrant cornerstones of our city, has faced big challenges during the pandemic and we want to ensure that this sector flourishes. I hope to see you at a show at The Mission Theatre soon!”
