Just for a change,Bath & North East Somerset Council’s mobile library – which takes books out to people in rural areas – is parking up in the centre of the city.
It’s for a festive event to bring Christmas cheer and – hopefully – encourage more people to develop a love of literature.
Usually seen making sure residents in village locations have access to books and council services, the mobile library will be outside Primark in Bath from 10am to 6pm on December 8th and decorated with tinsel and fairy lights.
There will be activities throughout the day for children and even book gifts for some lucky members of the public.
Residents who are not yet library members will be able to join the library on the day and browse the great selection of books on offer.
Councillor Dine Romero, cabinet member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture, said: “Our mobile library has a fantastic range of books to browse for people who can’t get to one of our libraries in person. Our vehicle is also equipped with technology enabling people to access council and partner services online and to reserve items from the millions of books and resources on the Libraries West catalogue.
“This special event will help raise awareness of the service and bring some Christmas cheer to the city centre as well. Please come along and say hello to the team.”
