December is fast approaching and Christmas shoppers already adding to the inner city’s traffic congestion – and still no clear word about when Cleveland Bridge will be open both ways.

Councillor Manda Rigby, cabinet member for Transport said: “Contractors are working hard to safely complete the work and we will announce an end date as soon as we are able to.
Currently, temporary supports have been installed under the bridge deck to enable crucial sections of it to be repaired and this means only carefully managed traffic can cross.”
