A floral cherry on the cake

Bath in Bloom Chairman Steve Brook had nothing but praise for the B&NES Parks Department gardeners when the magnificent Tesco Cup was presented to the Team last week.

He was joined by the Mayor of Bath, Cllr June Player, and Committee members Marian McNeir MBE and Barry Cruse MBE.

As Steve said , “ It was a great achievement for Bath to get a Gold in South West in Bloom and then to be overall category winner and be awarded the Tesco Cup was the cherry on the cake! “

The judges for South West in Bloom praised the parks planting especially for the use of sustainable planting and for plans to have live music in the restored Victoria park bandstand as soon as covid restrictions make this possible. “

The voluntary group “ More trees for Bath and B&NES “ was congratulated for the 8000 trees already planted with more to come.

Community groups  impressed the judges by their lockdown work to make our local outdoor spaces havens for wildlife as well as people. Wild Flower planting lifts the spirits and was to be encouraged.

The judges also praised the work of BID for their generous support and also Bath in Bloom,  including the annual Gardens Competition which encourages gardeners and community spaces in the whole of Bath and North East Somerset and is hugely popular.

Hopes for 2022? – to be entered for the RHS Britain in Bloom National Finals as the South West nomination – and of course to win a Gold !
