Let’s put some jingle in those bells!

One minute it’s being extended, the next it’s cancelled.

The ups – and downs – of Bath’s crowd-pleasing and money-making traditional Christmas Market.

It’s been left to organisations like the Bath BID – an independent, not-for-profit business-led company working to provide the environment for city businesses to succeed – to help create a programme of activities to ensure – despite the loss of its traditional chalet-heavy market extravaganza – the city sparkles with enough magic to attract visitors to support local businesses this festive season.

The organisation will be working with Bath & North East Somerset Council, Visit West, SouthGate Bath and Milsom Place on a ‘Bath at Christmas’ programme which will include everything from a light show and festival chalets to a Christmas lights switch on and the welcome return of the Victorian carousel.

I met up with Allison Herbert who is the Chief Executive of Bath BID to talk about Christmas.
