Champagne cruise

Built in 1890 – the Lady Lena is believed to be the oldest electric launch in existence and still powered by her batteries.

Originally launched for river service on the Thames she has led a life of many ups and downs. It’s a bit of a miracle she’s still afloat and now offering the most beautiful experience of cruising the Kennet and Avon Canal. Cruising in style – with no engine noise disturbing the natural sounds and sights that envelope you – anywhere between Bath and Bradford on Avon.

I was lucky enough to be given a trip as a birthday present by my husband – who also invited my sisters and their partners to join us too for champagne and afternoon tea.

My thanks to Jenks and Ali – for both steering the boat and serving up our food and tea – and here for you is just a taster of our two hours on the water – including my first canal crossing of the Dundas Aquaduct.
