Later today (Thursday, May 6th) Cllr June Player – who represents the Westmoreland ward – will become the 794th Mayor of Bath.
Her deputy will be Dr Kumar – one of the representatives of the Bathwick Ward.
Their election takes place tonight at 6pm and they are hoping to live stream the ceremony on YouTube.
Standing down – after her year of office – is Cllr Manda Rigby who will swop one chain for another!
She takes up her role as Cabinet member for Transport. One which will include dealing with the forthcoming fall-out from the complete closure of the Cleveland Bridge.
The new mayor enters an office which now has both a Twitter and YouTube account. Who said old traditions can’t keep up to date.
