Shedding light on the canopy issue.

Hopefully, many of you have been out after dark to appreciate the festive Light Trail that Bath BID has organised.

Outside of that – and the Southgate Shopping Centre/Brunel Square illuminations – several other retail spots have put on a bit of a show including Mallory the jewellers and the historic Corridor.

Which reminds me – several Bath Newseum followers had expressed concerns about the canopy over the High Street entrance to this arcade dating from 1825.

In one corner the metal frame has appeared to split.

The crack below the bow.

I raised this with the managing agents just recently and they promptly organised a proper engineering survey of the structure.

Edward Fenwick-Moore is Director of Hartnell Taylor Cook’s Property and Asset Management organisation in Bristol.

He told me: “My firm’s client advises that no immediate issues were identified in the structural report.”

Hope that reassures people.
