British philosopher and author A.C. Grayling will be presenting a live Zoom lecture on the history of philosophy on December 1st 2020 at 7.30pm (see below for ticket details).
It’s been organised by the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution and – in advance of the lecture – Professor Grayling took time out to chat with Andreas Wasmuht from the BRLSI and give a foretaste of some of the areas he will be covering in his talk.
Taking as his subject the history of philosophy (on which he recently published a highly regarded book), Prof. Grayling explains some of the criteria he used to decide which thinkers should be included in his history and which left out (sorry, Foucault) and expounds on the importance of philosophy and philosophical thinking for humankind today.
Climate change, Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic all come up in a wide-ranging and entertaining conversation.
