Near miss for Pulteney Bridge.

A couple of days holiday in Iceland – and look what l come back to!

My friend Adam Reynolds – on Twitter – illustrating a near miss for one of Bath’s main Georgian attractions.

A vehicle knocking a whole section of Grand Parade balustrade into the River Avon and in an area very close to the 18th century and Grade 1 listed Pulteney Bridge itself.

Councillor Joanna Wright, joint cabinet member for Transport, said: “We are carrying out an assessment of the damage caused by the vehicle which struck the balustrade yesterday.

Masonry will need to be recovered from the river and a specialist contractor brought in to carry out the repairs. We have put up barriers to make the area safe and would appeal for any witnesses to get in touch with the police.”
