Into Walcot Street, where one of the most beautiful of shop fronts is soon going to display the goods of a new occupant. Shining a light in ‘artisan land.’
Down to the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath – and looking across to the bottom of Holburne Park – the redevelopment of a MOD site on the Warminster Road.
I cannot help feeling those blocks are going to tower over the canal. Am waiting for them to tidy up the drainage channel they have put in – and understand it will be covered by a pathway to a nearby canal bridge.
Look at the difference at the end of Hampton Row where a fair number of end terrace houses have been derelict for years. The before and after shots with all that graffiti gone and – hopefully – a new and occupied life.
Something else looking spruce is the archway linking the Roman Baths with the old city laundry.
The archway lends its name to a multi-million pound project to provide a World Heritage Visitor Centre and proper education facilities for young people visiting the site.
It’s just been cleaned in a phase one operation by Sally Strachey Conservationists.
