Keeping fit at Riverside

Good to see more retail space – built into the multi-storey apartment blocks at Crest’s Riverside development –  being filled.

Personal training specialist firm, HEALTH, have opened a boutique fitness studio at Sovereign Point following the success of their first studio at Marlborough Buildings. The company has signed a deal with Crest Nicholson for 250 sq m of space on a 15 year deal.

The new studio, named CLASS, is a unique concept in health and fitness. It offers a balance of high intensity exercise, restorative yoga, and primal movement classes all under one roof.

The facility also includes Vital Café, serving nutritional and healthy meals and snacks, alongside barista coffee and recovery smoothies.

Statistics from Leisure DB’s ‘2018 State of the UK Fitness Industry Report’ highlighted the increasing popularity of health and fitness facilities, showing that gym membership reached almost 10 million members last year, with approximately 1 in 7 people in the United Kingdom a registered member of a gym.

CLASS has joined other businesses apparently thriving at Bath Riverside including Crisp Cowley, Steers McGillan Eves Design and Coffee#1. A total of 1,200 sq m of commercial and business space has been created at Bath Riverside alongside over 750 residential units.

Rob Suchet, Director of HEALTH, said, “Opening our second studio at Bath Riverside is a fantastic opportunity for us to offer a new style of health and fitness to local residents and become part of the community.

“The development has a vibrant feel and we’re really pleased with our brand new studio in Sovereign Point overlooking the new park and the River Avon. The setting is brilliant for our business and our members get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.”

Neil Dawtrey, Senior Projects Director at Crest Nicholson, said, “We are pleased to welcome CLASS to the community at Bath Riverside.

“We already have other successful businesses operating from the development and I am pleased that HEALTH have chosen to open their new studio here for residents and the wider Bath community to use.

“The health and fitness industry is continuing to grow nationally and we look forward to seeing CLASS develop here over the coming years.”
