Walcot Lantern Parade

Good to hear that there WILL be another Walcot Lantern Parade this year. It’s happening on Sunday 9th December at 5pm on Walcot Street.

An array of large and small lanterns with the theme of Nutcracker Suite, the procession will also feature Walcot Choir and street artists Cirq Delight. Little Big Horns brass band will lead the procession from Walcot Gate to outside the Hilton Hotel where there will be carols, and then back again to the top of the street.

The Parade is co-ordinated by Bath Fringe and will include lanterns made by St Andrew’s School, Mentoring Plus, DHI, the Holburne Museum’s Gardener’s Lodge, Mencap, and other community groups, as well as professional artists. Traffic restrictions will be necessary during the procession.

The Parade will be followed by a special Christingle service at St Michael’s Church at 6.30pm, and The Little Big Horns will take to the stage at The Bell Inn.
The Parade is part of Walcot Winterfest and there will be shops and businesses open for the day with mince pies and good cheer. It is supported by Walcot Traders, The Bell Inn, Minuteman Press and Bath BID.

Last year’s event attracted approximately 250 people in the procession and hundreds more watching, a great new little event for the city.
